There are few better places to make peace with the waning of summer evenings than at P.S. 1 in Long Island City, Queens, inside JAMES TURRELL’s ethereal permanent exhibit called “MEETING.” This Saturday is the last day for a while that you can count on visiting the work, a room with a retractable ceiling and subtly hidden lights, in which viewers can sit or lie down and watch - weather permitting - as the rectangle of sky above them shades from bright blue to purple to deep black; after Saturday, the room is only open when the sunset, the museum’s hours and clement weather coincide. Mr. Turrell calls such works spyspaces and has said his intention is for people “to pay attention to the thingness and revelation of light.” Visitors are allowed to enter about half an hour before sunset, which this Saturday will be about 7:30. 22-25 Jackson Avenue, at 46th Avenue, (718) 784-2084, $8.
