self Discovery

maybe the thing is to be a starving artist, considering my Aqu/10 North Node, going away from family - or even being A-OK with that if i’m making my art. (yes yes, that feels good. because really i do need to eat, though not as expensive as i do/can. making that more a treat, eh?)

also yes i want to work with sexually savvy material - not just on screen. then again, i’m sure the R.R. would be WAAAY after me if I did come with after school program that taught food/biology, money/personal finances, AND dating/relationships/sex. Ha! Maybe it could be for college students? that seems so LATE on the curve now.

Below’s well said, me thinketh. Couldn’t they be just friends, y’all? Seriously!

“She’s a 30-year-old woman with a son,” said Hackett. “He’s a 41-year-old man who’s just left a four-year marriage and is in the midst of a divorce. You know, you don’t jump into these things, check it out, then split. I think they’re being grown-ups. They’re trying to figure out what’s next.”

EUR feedback from *Shelley, Brooklyn, NY:
"Is it just me or does anyone else out there think that Bob Johnson’s comment about staying at BET ‘five more years at BET if Beyonce would give me a lap dance’ was inappropriate? I was shocked and Beyonce looked mortified. That was one of the most ghetto moments I’ve seen on television.
We are always trying to talk about how classless the youth are today, but that comment outrageous!  I mean the woman’s father was sitting right next to her. If someone said that to Bob Johnson’s daughter or family member he would have a fit.  To me that was that was the saddest part of the whole show and it
came from the network CEO.  I guess it’s good that’s he’s the soon-to-be FORMER CEO.
There’s no other way to say it, but it was a damn shame and straight
up low class."

Alicia unplugging & Stevie… coming

Thursday, June 30th, 2005

Alicia Keys told reporters that her upcoming "unplugged" album will feature
the creation of new songs as well as "flipping songs you  know." MTV chose Keys to re-launch its acoustic performance series, which she’ll record in July for an October release via J Records.

Stevie Wonder says his forthcoming Motown CD “A Time 2 Love” is “almost done.” The disc, which will reportedly include the tracks "From the Bottom of My Heart;" the title song, co-written with labelmate India.Arie; and the first single, "So What the Fuss," has been pushed back numerous times, and had recently been planned for a June 14 release. He thanked reporters for their continued support of his career, and for their patience with this current album.

mother’s looking at a gay rag i’ve scribbled in for some reason i suggested. the hints of active sexuality around town are apparent. something emerges. it’s clear she could go, be going to drawing classes to further her already present talent. something about a model who’s show his member out of his pants, turned at a profile to me. though she’s still getting used to the idea of a only partial naked model. too, what angle shall she draw him from. (he’s shorter than her here, though i think she’s closer to my height than real life.)

Toni B. & more BET awards

Wednesday, June 29th, 2005

EUR says:
Toni Braxton will return in September with a new album entitled “Libra,” via Blackground. The Scott Storch-produced first single, “Please,” topped Billboard’s Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart last week and debuts this week at No. 78 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs tally. A video for the track will be shot with director Chris Robinson.

forgot to mentioned she sounded rather GOOD last night. More so, her energy and look were quite UP, not unlike Gladys or Mary J. :-) [Faith seemed to be off, or perhaps ON something, eh.]

Oh! and what was with the surprise FUGEES opening, yet Lauryn’s smart vocalizing choices with a no longer FULL voice?

Diary of a Mad Black Woman

Wednesday, June 29th, 2005

Watched Diary with my sister this weekend. (saw a bit of the stageplay too, which seems more like a musical or play with singing… only went 25 minutes in…) Will circle back to my notes later.

Want to determine if that wasTOni Braxton doing a song called STUPID or such. Sounds pretty good I know that. * Yup, I found the movie credits c/o Google in a word document. She co-wrote it with Tyler and Cory Rooney (!). [I so need to be writing with these catz while I do have an address here.]

Felt like the high drama at the outsets didn’t match up with the urban yuck yuck later on or even the blossoming romance. too many textures that don’t best come together, though the storyline feels true, if audience bent, all around.
